“Everyone is in the room because of our economic success.”

That was a point I shared during AJ 2026, a gathering hosted by Reut USA that brought together a wide cross section of Jewish leadership.

Around the room were major philanthropists, founders of Jewish organizations, investors, business operators, cultural leaders, media voices, and people building companies in Israel and across the diaspora. Some run large foundations. Others built companies from scratch. Some focus on education and community building. Others work in media, culture, and public advocacy.

The mix created a different kind of conversation.

At one point I added something I believe strongly:

“Philanthropy does not exist without economic success, without investing in Jewish businesses, without investing in Israel.”

Many of the institutions our community relies on were built through that cycle. People build companies. Those companies generate wealth. That wealth then supports schools, cultural institutions, hospitals, and community organizations.

What stood out about AJ 2026 was the format. The day invited conversation rather than long panels or speeches. People in the room spoke openly. Different viewpoints came forward. Ideas were challenged. People shared what they are seeing in their industries and communities.

It is rare to see philanthropists, founders, investors, cultural leaders, and operators all engaging in the same room like that.

Time will show what comes out of the conversations. Creating a space where that many voices can participate is not easy, and the execution made it possible.
